Chris’s Favorite Summertime Treat: Berry Crisp
One of my favorite summertime treats is a classic berry crisp. It’s always my pick for the Fourth of July or any warm-weather gathering because it’s light, refreshing, and always a crowd favorite. What I love most is how easy it is to make with simple ingredients I almost always have in the fridge. It comes together quickly, doesn’t require much effort, and never fails to please. We’ve made this recipe so many times, but my favorite way to bake it is in our Gozney pizza oven. The high heat gives the topping the perfect golden crisp while keeping the berries warm and juicy. It’s such a simple twist that makes the whole experience feel extra special.

We recently added the Gozney pizza oven to our backyard and instantly fell in love. It started as a fun way to make pizzas at home, but we quickly realized it could do so much more! It’s become a favorite for everything, from roasting vegetables to baking desserts, and this berry crisp is now at the top of our list of loved dishes in our home. It’s one of those recipes that feels right for any summer moment, whether you’re hosting friends or just looking for something sweet to end the day.
What really makes this dessert stand out is a drizzle of balsamic glaze just before serving. It might sound unexpected, but the sweet and tangy finish pairs perfectly with the warm berries and crisp topping. Don’t knock it until you try it!
We also love serving berry crisp in a collection of mismatched china for the Fourth of July. There’s something about the charm of vintage plates that makes the holiday table feel so personal and festive.
