Poppy Street

Welcome to Poppy Street—a coastal cottage garden designed for our dear friend and longtime collaborator, Molly Britt, founder of Poppy Street Interiors. Located just steps from the beach on Balboa Peninsula, this home already had a story to tell. Our goal was to design a landscape that complemented the home’s historic architecture while letting its charming details shine.

We leaned into East Coast garden nostalgia – brick paths, climbing roses, and a patinaed picket fencing – but softened it with the relaxed spirit of Southern California. The layered plantings feel loose but intentional, with a mix of boxwood, seasonal blooms, and native flora that brings texture and movement throughout the seasons.

From the front gate wrapped in white roses to the private fire pit lounge out back, each space was designed to feel inviting and lived-in. Espalier vines climb the garden walls, woven chairs tuck around a casual dining table, and soft greenery frames every moment without overwhelming it.

This was a space made for slow mornings, barefoot evenings, and gatherings that spill from indoors to out, all while staying true to the cottage charm that makes this home so special.
